Piner-Olivet Union Elementary
Piner-Olivet Union Elementary received $140,435 from the Kitchen Infrastructure and Training (KIT) Fund in 2022 and is not on the 2025 grant list, so it has first priority for 2026 KIT money. The California Department of Education (CDE) has not published the 2026 allocations yet.

Who decides in a district
KIT money goes to the district's food service (nutrition services) department, so its director decides how it is spent. An education or curriculum lead, a farm-to-school buyer and a garden coordinator often shape a garden program, and in our work a garden coordinator housed in food services has worked well, since food service already runs as a business.
